Same ‘ol stuff
Great news this time around! The new June issue of the all mighty Hot Rod has not one, but two Pure Vision feature cars! It’s just too cool! You will see the 72 Torino and the Petrol Charger being taken for a little cruise. I would like to thank Jerry Pitt of Hot Rod for all the organizing he did to ensure that the day was trouble free. Unfortunately Hot Rod states that the Torino’s interior is tan. It is in fact grey! The funniest thing about that f-up is that almost all the editors not only saw the car in person, but drove it. How did they mess that up? I would also like to comment about the clutch. Though it takes a little getting used to, if you use the bottom of your foot instead of the center of your foot it is just fine. A couple of the editors bag on the clutch saying it was too stiff. Fact is, the floor on the Torino is raised to accomodate raising the exhaust for ground clearance. This means the pedals are a little closer to the floor that stock. We have found that if you try to use the clutch with your foot in the center of the pedal you will lack leverage. It takes a little practice but after you get used to placing your foot up higher on the pedal pad, using the clutch is no big deal. I gave the editors this information before they drove it, obviously they did not get the hang of it. I have driven the car many times and the clutch isn’t even a blip on my radar. I feel that the car is a blast to drive and has terrific road manners for a 72 Torino that has been extensively modified. All bitching aside, it is always an honor to be in Hot Rod and we are proud to once again be placed in its pages!
